rulesParallax RP | Our Roleplay Philosophy
Parallax is a story driven roleplay environment. All actions that you
take within our city must create and advance roleplay. Character
development, relationships, and storytelling are expected to be priority at all
times.
Our goal is to create a living world where player decisions matter.
Actions should create opportunities for roleplay not only for yourself, but for
those around you. Whether you choose to pursue legal employment, build
a criminal enterprise, join emergency services, enter politics, or simply live
as a civilian, your decisions should contribute toward creating believable
stories and memorable interactions.
Characters should be treated as persistent individuals whose actions,
reputations, relationships, successes, failures, and mistakes continue to
shape their future experiences. We encourage players to focus on creating
stories that develop over time.
Winning should never be prioritized over roleplay. Conflict, setbacks,
injuries, financial losses, arrests, failed plans, and mistakes often create
some of the strongest roleplay opportunities and should be embraced as
part of character growth.
Parallax RP is designed around realism, continuity, and player-driven
storytelling. While rules provide structure, players are expected to use
common sense and contribute toward creating enjoyable experiences for
everyone involved.
In-City Rules and Expectations
SECTION I — ROLEPLAY RULES
Rule 1 — Realistic Roleplay
All characters, actions, and decisions should contribute toward believable
and immersive roleplay. Players are expected to act in ways that make
sense for their character, the situation, and the environment around them.
Behavior that is intentionally unrealistic, disruptive, or designed solely to
gain an advantage without meaningful roleplay may result in administrative
action.
Rule 2 — Character Continuity
Characters are persistent individuals whose actions, relationships, injuries,
reputation, and history continue throughout their story.
Players may not disregard previous roleplay, ignore established character
development, or attempt to avoid consequences through unrealistic means.
Rule 3 — Value of Life
Players are expected to reasonably value their character's life and safety at
all times.
While characters may take risks, they should not willingly place themselves
into situations where serious injury or death is likely without appropriate
roleplay justification.
Rule 4 — Immersion & Out-of-Character Conduct
Parallax RP prioritizes immersion and in-character interactions at all times.
Out-of-character communication, arguments, or commentary that disrupt
active roleplay scenes are prohibited.
Roleplay scenes must be allowed to conclude naturally, even when a
disagreement or concern arises. Players may not pause, derail, or alter a
scene due to an out-of-character issue.
If a player believes a rule violation has occurred, the scene should be
completed whenever reasonably possible and the matter reported through
the ticket system afterward. Retaliation, arguments, or attempts to resolve
staff matters in-character are not permitted.
Rule 5 — Unjustified Violence
Violence must have reasonable roleplay justification and should contribute
to the progression of a story.
Attacking, killing, injuring, or using a vehicle to intentionally harm another
player without sufficient roleplay escalation or justification is prohibited.
Rule 6 — Combat Logging
Players may not intentionally disconnect, leave the server, or otherwise
avoid roleplay, arrest, injury, conflict, or consequences.
If disconnected unintentionally, players are expected to make reasonable
efforts to return and continue the scene.
Rule 7 — Multiple Characters & Character Integrity
Players may create and play multiple characters; however, each character
must remain separate and independent.
Information, relationships, assets, and consequences from one character
may not influence another. Switching characters to avoid consequences,
investigations, or ongoing storylines is prohibited.
Each character should have their own identity, background, personality, and
role within the city. Players are expected to see active storylines through to
a reasonable conclusion before abandoning or replacing a character.
Rule 8 — Erotic Roleplay (ERP)
Erotic roleplay (ERP), sexually explicit roleplay, or any sexually graphic
content is strictly prohibited within Parallax RP.
Any player found participating in, encouraging, or facilitating ERP may be
subject to an immediate and permanent ban.
Rule 9 — Injuries, Memory & Scene Continuity
Players are expected to roleplay injuries realistically and apply reasonable
memory loss based on the severity of their condition.
In situations involving catastrophic injuries that would reasonably result in
death or severe trauma, such as execution-style shootings, significant head
injuries, or other fatal wounds, players should not retain detailed memory of
the events immediately surrounding the incident.
For less severe injuries, unconsciousness, or medical treatment, players
are not required to forget an entire scene. Characters may retain
reasonable memories of events, people, and circumstances leading up to
their injury.
Players who are removed from an active scene due to injury may not return
to that same scene after receiving medical treatment. However, once
treatment has concluded, they may participate in new incidents or roleplay
that develop elsewhere, provided they are no longer involved in the original
scene and their injuries have been roleplayed appropriately.
Staff may use discretion when determining what a character would
reasonably remember following a particular incident.
Rule 10 — Recordings & Evidence
Players may only possess or use recordings that would reasonably exist
within roleplay.
Body camera footage, phone recordings, photographs, surveillance
footage, and other forms of recorded evidence may only be used if the
recording device was present and reasonably capable of capturing the
incident.
Law enforcement body cameras are considered canon when visibly
equipped as part of an officer’s uniform or gear. Officers operating in plain
clothes or without a visible body camera may not claim to possess body
camera footage.
If a recording device was not present or reasonably established during the
scene, the recording should be presumed not to exist.
Section II — Crime, Conflict & Emergency
Services
Rule 11 — Meaningful Criminal Roleplay
Criminal activity should have a purpose beyond generating money or
creating random interactions.
Violence, robberies, kidnappings, drive-by shootings, and other criminal
acts require a legitimate in-character reason. Minor disagreements, insults,
or inconveniences are not valid reasons to escalate to serious criminal
activity.
Players are expected to consider the risks and consequences of their
actions. Criminal behavior should be approached realistically and not
treated as consequence-free entertainment.
Rule 12 — Emergency Services Interactions
Law enforcement officers and EMS personnel may be robbed, kidnapped,
threatened, deceived, or otherwise involved in criminal roleplay when
appropriately justified. However, players may not repeatedly target
emergency services solely to prevent them from performing their duties or
disrupt their roleplay.
Emergency service personnel are roleplayers just like everyone else and
should be treated with the same respect and consideration as any other
player. Players should allow opportunities for roleplay to develop naturally
and avoid unnecessary escalation.
Not every traffic stop must result in a pursuit, and not every encounter must
end in violence. While escalation may be appropriate depending on the
circumstances, repeatedly escalating situations solely to create action may
be considered low-quality roleplay.
Injuries and medical treatment should be roleplayed realistically when EMS
is involved. Players should make a reasonable effort to participate in
medical roleplay and portray the effects of their injuries appropriately.
Players may not use out-of-character knowledge regarding law
enforcement staffing, available units, or server population when planning or
committing criminal acts. Characters should assume that additional law
enforcement resources may become involved as a situation develops.
Rule 13 — Gang & Organization Roleplay
Criminal organizations, gangs, and other groups are expected to form and
develop naturally through roleplay.
Groups should establish their identity through their actions, reputation,
relationships, territory, businesses, colors, symbols, and influence within
the city. Players may not simply declare ownership of an area, claim gang
status, or establish rivalries without first developing them through roleplay.
Gang activity should focus on building stories, relationships, alliances,
rivalries, and influence rather than relying solely on violence. Territory,
respect, and reputation should be earned through consistent roleplay and
community recognition.
Conflicts between organizations should develop over time and have a clear
in-character basis. While violence may be a component of gang roleplay, it
should not be the only form of interaction between groups.
Organizations are encouraged to create unique identities, cultures,
traditions, and goals that help contribute to the overall roleplay environment
and create meaningful experiences for other players.
Section III — Community & Discord Rules
Rule 14 — Respect & Conduct
All community members are expected to treat one another with respect.
Harassment, discrimination, personal attacks, threats, hate speech,
bullying, or other behavior intended to create a hostile environment will not
be tolerated.
Rule 15 — Staff Communication
Players may not directly message staff members regarding reports, rule
disputes, bugs, suggestions, reimbursements, development matters, or
requests for assistance.
Players may not approach staff members in voice channels, private
calls, or other unofficial settings to discuss administrative matters.
All reports, disputes, appeals, bug reports, suggestions, and requests for
staff assistance must be submitted through the appropriate ticket system or
designated channel.
Rule 16 — Discord Usage
Use channels for their intended purpose and contribute to discussions in a
productive manner.
Spam, excessive tagging, disruptive behavior, or misuse of channels is
prohibited. Community members should be mindful when using
@everyone, @here, or other large notification roles and only use them
when appropriate.
Tickets should be submitted through the designated ticket system.
Suggestions, including server ideas, MLO recommendations, feature
requests, and rule changes, should be submitted through the suggestions
channel. Bugs and technical issues should be reported through the bug
reporting system. Players should use the appropriate channels for their
intended purpose and avoid posting information in unrelated areas of the
Discord.
Rule 17 — Voice Channel Conduct
Community members are expected to conduct themselves respectfully
while participating in voice channels.
Harassment, excessive toxicity, disruptive behavior, screaming,
soundboard abuse, or intentionally creating a negative experience for
others will not be tolerated. Treat others with the same level of respect you
would expect in return.
Rule 18 — Advertising & Promotion
Advertising or promoting another roleplay community in any form is
prohibited.
This includes posting invite links, sharing advertisements, promoting
another community’s social media content, recruiting members, direct
messaging members, or otherwise directing members away from Parallax
RP.
While members are free to participate in other communities, streaming,
screen sharing, broadcasting, or showcasing another roleplay community
within Parallax RP Discord is prohibited. Members may not promote
streams, videos, or content from platforms such as Twitch, Kick, YouTube,
TikTok, Facebook, or similar services when that content features another
roleplay community.
Violations of this rule may result in disciplinary action.
Rule 19 — Community Conduct
Members are expected to act in good faith and contribute positively to the
community.
Creating unnecessary drama, encouraging harassment, spreading false
information, attempting to rally members against other players or staff, or
otherwise disrupting the community may result in disciplinary action.
Rule 20 — Staff Discretion
Not every situation can be explicitly covered within this rulebook. Staff
retain the authority to interpret and enforce the rules based on the spirit of
roleplay, fairness, community standards, and the overall health of the
server.
Behavior intended to undermine roleplay, disrupt the community, exploit
loopholes, or circumvent the intent of the rules may result in administrative
action, even if the specific behavior is not directly addressed within the
rulebook.
Staff rulings are based on intent, context, pattern, and impact rather than
technicalities or literal interpretations of the rules. Players are expected to
act in good faith and not seek advantages through omissions or loopholes
within the rules.
That is all. Enjoy your time in Parallax RP. We hope you create
great memories, tell incredible stories, and build lasting
friendships along the way.
